Contiki - Day 5 - Lucerne to Nice

21 October 2009

Well yeah, waking up at 06:20 was so hard. But it had to be done. So finally got up, packed up everything and closed the bags. Went down for breakfast at about 07:00 and had to be at the bus at 07:45.

On the way to Nice, Carissa was asleep on the bus – no surprise there… We travelled through Italy to get to Nice. Going through Italy and having a service stop there, you could see an increase in the prices.

We got to the hotel (Hotel Busby – Room) at around 17:00. JB had told us that he had arranged for our washing to get washed. So, we went upstairs and got our washing out, put it in a bag they provided, and took it back downstairs. Nice was considerably warmer than Paris and Switzerland.

We got ready for dinner at a restaurant away from the hotel. Dinner was nice (in Nice, haha). At the dinner table we were Priscilla, Carissa, Mandy, Kim, Mr Han, Des and myself. Priscilla and I (for some strange reason) started talking about binary codes (1’s and 0’s). So Carissa, Mandy and Des started talking about Friends when Monica was talking about the seven erogenous zones. Quote form the specific episode:
Monica: All right, I'm gonna show you something a lot of guys don't know. Rach, give me that pad, please? All right. Now...
Chandler: Wait, you don't have to draw an actual wo.... Whoa! She's hot!
Monica: Now everybody knows the basic erogenous zones. You got one, two, three, four, five, six, and seven!
Chandler: There are seven?
Chandler: That's one?
Monica: Kind of an important one!
Chandler: Oh, y'know... y'know what? I was looking at it upside down.
Rachel: Well, y'know, sometimes that helps.
Monica: All right. You could, uh, start out with a little 1, a 2, a 1-2-3, a 3, a 5, a 4, a 3-2, 2, a 2-4-6, 2-4-6, 4, 2, 2, 4-7, 5-7, 6-7, 7... 7... 7... 7 7 7 7 7 7... seven.
Well, Mandy remembers a lot of detail from the episodes of friends. Because they didn’t know what we were talking about, she just told herself (and Carissa and Des) that she assumes that the binary codes are for those “zones”. So, every time I would say 1 or 0 she would grab the table and start breathing heavily. It was so funny. That 1 0 1 0 1 1 1 1 1 1 got really funny throughout the tour.

After dinner we went to a bar where JB had booked out the back of the pub just for us. BUT, on the way to the bar, all hell broke loose!! The umbrella I bought in London broke so quickly, the wind was so strong and the rain was coming down so hard. When we finally got to the bar, it wasn’t raining anymore. We were soaking wet on one side and completely dry on the other side – that’s how strong the wind blew.

At the bar we all got either a cocktail or a beer. We decided not to stay too long, because it was so crowded in there. There was a restaurant/bar, next to the bar we were at, which was less crowded and went to sit there for a while. The group from dinner met up with Natalie and Annete. We all decided to go back to the hotel. On the way back Natalie, Kim and I realised we had to go to a bathroom. So we stopped at the McDonalds and went up to the bathroom. There we realised we need a pin code to enter the bathroom. So we went downstairs and they told us our slip will have the pin on it. So Kim bought a bottle of water (ironic hey?).

We got back to the hotel and we were buggered. Just had a quick shower and jumped right into bed. Des was starting to get sick so we decided we would miss breakfast to have a sleep-in, and then would meet with the others for a late breakfast.
